Matthew Casey, a 35-year-old Austin architect, died on September 3 under circumstances that have been unclear, but according to police, Casey died as a result of an aggravated assault. KVUE.com reported a story about the case, saying the autopsy report suggests blunt force trauma to be the cause of Casey’s death.
Police officers arrived to a call about a person being injured at the intersection of Neches Street and Sixth Street just before 1 a.m., according to the Austin Police Department. Police believe Casey got punched and fell to the ground after getting into a verbal fight with a man and a woman. When Casey fell from the punch, he hit his head on the pavement.
Casey was taken to a hospital, and he died from this injuries seven days later. The Travis County Medical Examiner’s office ruled the death a homicide and said the cause of death was blunt force trauma.
Police are searching for two suspects, a man and a woman. The first suspect, a thin white man in his mid-twenties, is believed to be 5’6” to 5’8” tall. He has short hair and tattoos on his arms, chest, and back. The man is believed to have the word ”TEXAS” tattooed on his upper back.
The second suspect, an athletic white woman in her mid-twenties, is believed to be the same height as the man, and she had been wearing a white baseball cap with a logo and a pink and blue jumper. The news story had more detailed descriptions, because the search is still ongoing.
